- Check and empty your post-box regularly. If you're going on holiday or expect to be away for some time, check if someone can collect your post while you're absent.
- Check your post-box is actually secure, and the lock functions properly. If it doesn't close or lock correctly, it is advisable to get this fixed.
- Go eco-friendly and arrange for your bills and/or bank statements to be delivered electronically by email or app instead. This will prevent people from stealing/intercepting physical letters sent in the post. Some banks will even allow you to collect a new bank card from your local branch for extra peace of mind.
- Discourage strangers from entering the building if they are unfamiliar or if a resident is not there to invite them in.
- Report anyone taking letters from post-boxes that do not belong to them to the police on 101. Identity theft is a crime and should always be reported if you suspect this is the case.
